Instructions for Printed Heat Transfer Vinyl Patterns (for use on shirts/fabrics)
Take your projects to a NEW level with our Printed Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) designs. Printed directly in our CCG Warehouse, our pattern HTV works best with our heat transfer mask (or carrier sheet) found HERE.
Items You'll Need
- Printed Vinyl Sheet
- HTV Mask
- Squeegee or other burnishing tool
- Heat Source (Heat Press recommended)
Application Instructions
Applies To: • 100% cotton • Poly/cotton blends • 100% polyester |
Application Instructions: Click HERE to watch our video |
Detailed Instructions
- STEP 1: Begin by placing your printed HTV pattern side up on your cutting mat (the backing of the vinyl is plain white and glossy).
- STEP 2: Very important: DO NOT MIRROR your design. Before cutting, we recommend performing a test cut in a corner of your vinyl to check your settings. Start with the recommended settings and adjust pressure/force as needed to ensure you’re not cutting through the backing of the HTV (see table below for cutter settings).
- STEP 3: Weed your design so that all excess vinyl is removed from the backing.
- STEP 4: This is where you’ll need your HTV mask and a squeegee. Place your clear mask sticky side up on a flat surface. Take your weeded HTV design and place the pattern side down on the mask. (Try gently folding it like a taco and rolling it from the center out.) Apply firm pressure using a squeegee from the center of the design outward to remove air bubbles and to ensure the design adheres to the masking. Tip: Replace the mask's protective sheet and flip the design over. Squeegee once again, center outward to make sure all air bubbles are smoothed out.
- STEP 5: Take the mask in one hand and the vinyl's backing in another. In one continuous motion, peel the backing and HTV mask apart. Tip: It is best to 'rip' the backing away in swift quick motions. The design should remain with the HTV mask.
- STEP 6: Now the transfer is ready to be applied to the garment. Press the patterned HTV at 320° with medium pressure for 15 seconds. It is a cool/cold peel. Wait 10-20 seconds before peeling your mask, it should be cool to cold touch.
